We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Security to ensure a safe and welcoming environment at each Sagebrush site. This position is ideal for someone with extensive experience in overseeing security teams for large events and in public spaces where people of all ages and walks of life are present. The Director of Security will carry out proactive security protocols to identify, mitigate, and resolve potential threats before the situation escalates.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Lives a life that is Christ-centered in alignment with the Sagebrush Staff Covenant.
- Ability to maintain confidential information using grace and discretion.
- High school diploma or GED required, secondary education or vocational training in a related field strongly preferred.
- Certification in security or a related field preferred.
- 5-10+ years of experience in professional security, such as event security, corporate security, law enforcement, or a related field required.
- Proficiency in security technology, including computer software programs and gear like radios, security cameras, RFID entry, and other related tech.
- Familiarity with a multisite church model and the complexities of a large-scale church environment.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and calm during times of crisis and high levels of activity.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills to ensure necessary information is communicated across all levels and security events are documented appropriately. Bilingual preferred.
- Ability to collaborate with team members, church leadership, ministry leaders, volunteers, and contractors.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Take a proactive approach to security. Develop training content and train personnel for various scenarios to ensure a quick and appropriate response when concerns arise.
- Utilize security programs and related gear including surveillance software, radio headsets, security cameras, RFID entry, and other technology related to maintaining the safety and security of every service environment.
- Collaborate with team leads across all departments to ensure each ministry area understands security practices applicable to their teams.
- Maintain a visible presence and oversee security during all service times and special events.
- Create security plans for special events, taking into consideration the various aspects of each event including time, location, entry and exits, expected attendance, notable staff and on-stage team members in attendance, and other needs specific to the event type.
- Partner with law enforcement as needed.
- Ensure emergency response and crisis management plans are up to date for each campus. Communicate these plans to the relevant staff.
- Mitigate the risk for safety concerns through regular review of the safety of each campus. Provide guidance on compliance with relevant safety laws, communicate any concerns with executive staff.
- Work with leadership to oversee the hiring, scheduling, training, and performance of security team members, including staff, contractors, and volunteers. Ensure adequate coverage.
- Take on any other duties needed to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and be in alignment with our church values.
